A local attorney was arrested last week by Polk County deputies after they say was involved in a cocaine-distribution operation.

Deputies with the county’s High Intensity Drug Trafficking task force say they arranged a deal to purchase up to 4 kilograms of cocaine for $25,000 per kilo with Brandon Byars of Tampa. They say they began to surveil Byars and observed him driving his Ford pickup to the parking lot of a restaurant in Lakeland where he met with local attorney Robert Arthur Carr and his passenger, Logan Sebring.

Investigators say Byars collected Sebring, who brought a backpack with him, and arrived at a meeting with undercover officers whom the pair believed were interested in purchasing the cocaine in question. The officers subsequently identified themselves and arrested the 37-year-old Byars and 24-year-old Sebring. They allege that the duo brought with them over two pounds of cocaine.

Carr, the 66-year-old owner of Resolute Law Group, was booked into the Polk County Jail on charges of charges of cocaine trafficking, conspiracy to traffic cocaine, and possession of a vehicle knowingly used to traffic cocaine. He was released three days later after posting a bond of $35,000.
