Tampa Man Charged With Attempted Murder In Pasco County Alleged Road Rage Incident

An alleged instance of road rage led to attempted murder charges for a Tampa man after police say he fired a shotgun at a fellow motorist.

Pasco County deputies say Luis Ramund Brito was at the four-way stop at Lake Como Drive and Moss Branch Road on the evening of August 4th when the vehicle opposite him flashed its lights in order to indicate that Brito’s headlights weren’t on.

Per investigators, when the other vehicle passed by Brito’s, he produced a shotgun and fired into the passenger compartment of the second vehicle. Two individuals were within – a female at the wheel with a male passenger. The male received the brunt of the blast, they say, with the woman escaping with only superficial injuries.

Authorities say the male endured grievous wounds to his face, but his wounds were not considered a threat to his life. Neither victim’s name was released by authorities.

Brito was arrested two days later and booked into the Hillsborough County Jail. The New York native was charged with felon carrying a concealed weapon and two counts of attempted murder. The 49-year-old is being held on a bond of $1,007,500, but is likely to be transferred to the custody of Pasco County authorities in the near future.

Local media says that Brito has been arrested in the past for a wide variety of alleged crimes, including possession of cocaine, burglary, petit theft, grand theft, dealing in stolen property, and driving on a suspended or revoked license.
