Largo Man Arrested, Charged With Murder For Alleged Fatal Beating In June

A Largo man authorities say fatally beat his neighbor last month was arrested last week and charged with his murder.

Largo police say they were summoned to a local mobile home park on June 9 to respond to the report of an unconscious man. Upon their arrival, officers say they discovered Richard Lariviere, who was bleeding and not conscious at the time of his discovery.

He was taken via ambulance to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg for treatment. Investigators say his injuries were grievous and, sixteen days later, proved to be mortal. Hospital officials pronounced him dead on June 25.

Lariviere’s mortal remains were then turned over to the county’s medical examiner for a determination of the circumstances causing his demise. The medical examiner’s determination was that the 58-year-old man met his end due to homicide.

On the eve of Independence Day, Largo police arrested Kirby Everett Taylor and booked him into the Pinellas County Jail. Pinellas authorities have released very few details regarding their suspicions or a possible motive for the killing, but they did not hesitate to charge the 47-year-old native of New York with second-degree murder and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. He is awaiting trial while in custody, remaining imprisoned after his bond was set at $257,500.
