Homeowner Allegedly Shoots Two Brothers, Killing One, at Gathering in Seffner
Martin Alfred Johnson placed a call to the emergency number around ten o’clock that evening to report the disturbance. According to the HCSO, Johnson shot brothers William Edgar McCallister and David Jack McCallister while the trio was listening to music at Johnson’s mobile home.
The 42-year-old William’s wounds were mortal, and he expired at the scene of the incident. David’s wounds were not life threatening, and he was taken to the hospital for treatment. Johnson was also taken to the hospital for reasons that were not specified by authorities.
Johnson, who turns 77 next month, was interviewed by detectives but has not been charged with a crime at the time of this writing. He has been arrested at least twice before in Hillsborough County, once for driving on a canceled license and a second time for aggravated assault in 2009. According to court records, Johnson fired a shotgun into the ceiling of his residence in order to compel a woman who had been visiting to leave. He allegedly subsequently pointed the firearm at her and at witnesses. Johnson pled guilty to a lesser offense and was sentenced to a term of probation.
