J. Jervis Wise

Mr. Wise is an associate at the Law Offices of Bjorn E. Brunvand, P.A. He concentrates his legal practice in the areas of federal and state criminal defense and appellate practice.

Mr. Wise earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Food and Resource Economics from the University of Florida in 2001.  He, thereafter, earned a Juris Doctor and a Certificate of Concentration in Advocacy from Stetson University College of Law in 2005. While attending Stetson, Jervis was a member of the Stetson Law Review, serving as a recent developments writer and authoring several case digests that were published in various editions of the Stetson Law Review. During his time at Stetson, Jervis also served as an intern to the Honorable Mary S. Scriven, United States Magistrate Judge, participated in the Public Defender Clinic in the Sixth Judicial Circuit of Florida, and completed an international study program on emerging market economies and transitional democracies in Tallinn, Estonia. After graduation, Jervis entered private practice and, in 2006, joined Bjorn E. Brunvand P.A.

During his career, Jervis has tried cases before juries in state and federal courts on charges ranging from misdemeanors to first-degree murder.  He has also handled appeals in courts throughout Florida. In the appellate realm, Jervis has secured reversals of convictions for his clients in multiple Florida appellate courts. In addition to representing clients in criminal and potential criminal actions, Jervis also regularly provides appellate and trial support to other attorneys.

Jervis is admitted as a member of the Florida Bar, the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.  He currently serves on the Middle District of Florida’s Criminal Justice Act Panel.  He is also a member of the Pinellas Trial Lawyers Association, the Pinellas County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the Federal Bar Association.  In 2010, he was selected for the Florida Super Lawyers Rising Stars.
